Lincoln Elementary School, built in 1914, is one of the oldest school buildings in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and serves as headquarters for Service & Technology Corporation (STC), a consulting engineering firm today. The school was purchased by K. Vasudevan, chairman and founder of STC, in 1986 and converted to office space.
To honor the students and staff who had called the school home, Mr. Vasudevan created the BLESS Fund — Bartlesville Lincoln Elementary School Scholarship — to help students who otherwise might not be able to attend college, especially in engineering and the sciences. It is an interest-free loan scholarship intended for average students from middle-income families, though others are not excluded from consideration.
Our scholarship has helped young people seek careers in engineering, technology, science, business, education, medicine and fine arts. Students have attended various universities and admirably have a 100 percent payback record on their loans.
Our objective has been to reward those students who might not otherwise be able to attend college due to financial need or personal circumstances. We have targeted students with an "average to above average" academic record who exhibit a "high level of desire" to obtain a college education.
The scholarship awards began in 1994, and since then B.L.E.S.S. has awarded 107 scholarships for a total of more than $420,000. Several B.L.E.S.S. scholars have already graduated with various degrees, in aeronautical engineering, electrical engineering, agricultural engineering, environmental engineering, technology, finance, education, and more.
Contributions to B.L.E.S.S. Fund (501c3) are tax deductible and are a great way to immortalize your parents, teachers, and others you hold dear to your heart. We will be delighted to provide more information or show you the building and our B.L.E.S.S. showcase.
